Miter saw

A miter saw makes fast, repeatable crosscuts and angled cuts, which is why it’s the trim carpenter’s main saw. The videos here use one for baseboard, crown moulding, shelf parts, flooring and tile. Hold the board firmly against the fence, let the blade reach full speed, and lower it slowly through the cut.
Walls are rarely exactly square, so measure each corner angle and cut a test piece before cutting the real one. Cut a bit long and trim to fit. Keep your hands clear of the blade’s path, wait for it to stop before lifting, and wear eye and ear protection. See install baseboard trim, build built-in bookshelves and install vinyl plank flooring.
