Tile saw
A wet tile saw uses a diamond blade and water to cut ceramic and porcelain without chipping. The videos here cut tile for a basement shower: straight cuts, notches and cuts around a shower valve. Mark the tile, hold it flat against the fence, and feed it slowly into the blade so the water cools the cut.
Use eye protection and keep your fingers away from the blade. Plug the saw into a GFCI-protected outlet, since it combines water and electricity. Dry-fit the layout before you set any tile, and cut small pieces last. See regrout tile and bathroom.
