Caulk gun

A caulk gun pushes sealant out of the tube at a steady rate, and the smoothness of the bead depends on your hands. Cut the nozzle at an angle, smaller than you think, since you can always cut more. Press the trigger evenly and pull the gun along the joint rather than pushing it.
The videos here compare caulks for different joints: latex for painted trim, silicone for wet areas, and others for exterior gaps and large gaps with backer rod. Match the product to the joint and read the label. Tool the bead once with a finger or a spoon and don’t overwork it. See caulk a tub or shower and install baseboard trim.
