A circular saw is the workhorse for framing, decks, sheds and plywood. The videos here cut wall studs, plywood sheathing, deck framing and flooring. Set the blade depth so it just clears the underside of the board, support both sides of the cut so the board doesn’t pinch the blade, and mark the cut line from the blade’s kerf side.

For straight cuts in plywood, clamp a straightedge or speed square as a guide. Wait for the blade to stop before you set the saw down, and unplug it or remove the battery to change blades. Keep both hands on the saw and wear eye protection. Used often in a shed build or a deck build, usually with an impact driver.
