Fix it, build it, learn it.

Workshop

A workshop starts with a dry, sound shell. The videos here turn a shed into a working shop, from insulating and covering the walls to painting the plywood and coating the floor with epoxy. Our shed to workshop project follows the whole build in order.

Think about power and dust early. A shop needs outlets on dedicated circuits, and running new wiring is a permit job in most places, so check do you need a permit? before you buy anything. Wear a respirator rated for the product when you spray paint or finish. Keep a fire extinguisher by the door, and keep wood dust off every surface that can heat up.

Events

  • Shed to Workshop Conversion

Mike Montgomery of Modern Builds starts with a shed that has decent bones but a lot of problems: a worn floor, a wall and door close to falling off, a failing roof and nothing inside.
