Modern Builds
Modern Builds’ videos here follow outdoor and shed projects from start to finish. The main series is the Shed to Workshop Conversion: a new slab, structural fixes, insulation, a painted interior, an epoxy floor, a metal roof and a sprayed exterior finish. A smaller series, the DIY Lean-To Shed, frames and finishes a 4 ft x 8 ft shed against an existing one.
Other videos build a low-profile floating deck on 2×4 joists and lay vinyl plank through a whole house. The builder is open about mistakes, such as a rough concrete surface and sprayer striping, which is useful if you are planning the same job. Roof work needs fall protection, spray finishes need a respirator, and new power in a shop needs a permit and an electrician. Related: Build a shed and Build a deck.

DIY Lean-To Shed
A lean-to is one of the simpler sheds to build. One wall already exists, so you frame three walls, a ledger board and a shed roof.

Shed to Workshop Conversion
Mike Montgomery of Modern Builds starts with a shed that has decent bones but a lot of problems: a worn floor, a wall and door close to falling off, a failing roof and nothing inside.
